there and back again

so i'm finally back in bloomington/normal after being gone for four years. i moved in last saturday to the crossings. with the help of jay, mom, dad, neal, natalie, will, marcy, megan, traci and kaitlyn. i am much endebted to their help. i met my new roommates will, brad and durelle. swell guys, all around.

sunday was yet another successful ac wedding. and monday, i tied up loose ends back in champaign including carpet cleaning, cancelling cable, changing address at bank, coffee with red scott and supper with ray and katrina. tuesday, i was fortunate enough to be able to sleep in, then some shopping and that was it. today, you can read about here. it's my new work blog. i'll try to keep it up to date.

other than that, feel free to stop by and check out my new place: #117. it's kicking.

p.s. morgan, you're more intuitive than that. i'm sure you can figure out the counter.

Psycho! I've never seen anything like that before! Btw, sorry for the elevated hit count. I had to see the pattern. :) What is that called?

So there are four of you living there? I thought that you would be the third. I guess I should look for somewhere else for the spring?

Hey, I talked to Kelly Kaiser tonight after church--we decided that this Sunday we are going to go to La Fiesta in Morton for dinner, and then watch Spirited Away somewhere afterward. We decided you need to come, and Aaron and Jess (if she's still around) and it will be a grand old nostalgic time. So...you don't have plans then do you? You can cancel right? sweeeet. let me know!

Yes! We'll have a gay old time! Jess will probably be unable to attend, as we are moving her to Macomb on Saturn's Day.

The Conquest of Civilization, which I read recently, explains how the Babylonians had seven principal gods and worshipped a different one each day of the week, and thus named the days of the week. The gods' names were later changed by the Romans into their Roman equivalents, and some, now Woden's Day, Thor's Day, and Friga's Day, were then changed into their Germanic equivalents. Frig is a prehistoric translation of Venera (Venus), from Latin into Old English, WHICH is NOT what the KJV is written in. The KJV is written in Early Modern English. Old English is German through and through; you cannot read it.

Interestingly (to me), the goddesses of love gave us the words venereal and frig, the latter being a verb meaning "copulate"--a milder form of a certain other four-letter word.

Your counter is using base 10 and base 20, right?

Good stuff! Happy Thor's Day everybody. Yeah so...bad news about Sunday. Kelly just let me know that she actually has to work Sunday night--she forgot. So I'm bummed. But we will do it sometime.

i'm so sorry megan! work has been long and i am prone to forgetting things. i feel so horrible. i didn't mean to forget you.

morgan and kup, the counter is in base 16 so it goes 0-9 then a-f. it's also called hexadecimal.

Hex is only really useful because it converts so easily into binary.

Oh, and you stole my post title, which I stole from J.R.R.

*I* know where it is from, hence the J.R.R reference, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.

hey scottiepants--La Fiesta sounds good to me if you wanna come. But hey, I might actually be in Princeville for church on Sunday, it's Ben Hodel's wedding. So I'm not positive that I'm going, but there's a good chance.

I'm not sure when I'll be back, but it won't be that late. I still want to see your place sometime and hangout, so we have to do that some weekend too.

lemme know what you think

I know I'm late here, but I just got home from somewhere...
anyway, I'm PUMPED to see you've moved into will's place, I am very keen to spending time there, so I will likely get to see plenty of you, which I see as quite positive. Hopefully this is mutual. Regardless, welcome back, and it's true, you've got some GREAT guys to live with. What a great house!!
